Summer Palace

Today we woke up and took the bus to the summer palace that was probably about an hour away at most. It is also known as Catherine's Palace. It was occupied by the Nazis during WWII and most of it was destroyed/burned down so most of what we saw was a restoration of it. The most famous part of the palace is the Amber Room which is a room where all the walls are made out of amber panels.  Also, there was beautiful gardens in the back and a man made pond.
On our way back we stopped by another church called the Smolny Cathedral and monastery. After that we grabbed a late lunch at subway and now we are back in our hotel!
